Momby Benefits : Reduce Flat Head Syndrome

What is Flat Head Syndrome?
Some babies develop a persistent flat spot, either in the back or on one side of the head. This can be a sign of Flat Head Syndrome or Positional Plagiocephaly. This can occur when a baby sleeps in the same position repeatedly or because of problems with the neck muscles. Up to 48% of babies can develop Flathead Syndrome.
Misshapen skull in new born babies
Passing through the birth canal often makes a newborn baby’s head appear pointy or elongated for a short time.
A baby’s skull is soft a pliable when they are born. The skull is made up of several separate bones that will eventually fuse together. Because of this, it is normal for the baby’s skull to be slightly misshapen after birth. Flat Head Syndrome (Positional Plagiocephaly) is the condition that develops over a period of time.
What to do if your baby develops Flat Head Syndrome

In many cases a flat spot in a babies skull will round out on it’s own. However, if you still notice a flattening in the skull after 6 weeks then it is probably Flat Head Syndrome.
A baby’s skull becomes less pliable over time so the sooner you address the issue the better. It is advised to prevent Flat Head Syndrome rather than try to cure it.
How can Momby Baby Support reduce the risk of Flat Head Syndrome?
Due to the ergonomic shape and design of Momby Baby Support, your baby’s head is fully supported. The Momby’s head rest is moulded in such a way that the baby’s neck is supported and her head is resting in a rounded mould, ensuring that minimum pressure is placed on the back or sides of her head.
Placing your baby in the Momby for periods during the day will alleviate pressure on your baby’s soft bones, reducing the risk of Flat Head Syndrome.
